Haryana has a proud history going back to the Vedic age. The state was the home of the legendary Bharata dynasty,.Haryana is immortalised in the great epic Mahabharata. Kurukshetra, the scene of the epic battle between the Kaurvas and the Pandavas, is situated in Haryana. The state is bounded by Uttar Pradesh in the east, Punjab in the west, Himachal Pradesh in the north and Rajasthan in the south. The Union Territory of Delhi is landlocked on three sides by Haryana.

Tourist Attractions -Badhkal Lake, Dabchik, Jungle Babler, Karna Lake, Sohna, Surajkund, Dumdama, Sultanpur, Kurukshetra. The South-west of Haryana is dry, sandy and barren. For most of the year, the climate of Haryana is of a pronounced character -very hot in summer and markedly cold in winter.

Chandigarh, the capital of both Haryana and Punjab, is despite the fact that it is quite strictly planned, a nice stop when you're on your way to Amritsar or Leh. The city is known for the architectural mark the great French architect Le Corbusier left all throughout Chandigarh.

Most of Haryana is in the plains with the Aravali mountain range starting its westward journey from here. The Yamuna is the only major river that passes through this small state, which is one of the greenest in the country. There is a very good network of canals throughout the state, giving it the much-needed impetus for agriculture, the mainstay of Haryana's economy.
